Rainy Day Essentials

Rainy days got you feeling down? Well, if you arm yourself with the perfect rainy day essentials, you’ll be singing in the rain in no time.

There are several must-have every style maven needs to stay dry and looking good when the rainy weather moves in.

Here are 10 Rainy-Day Essentials you need!

Oversized Sunglasses:

When the weather’s got you down, nothing is better than hiding behind a great pair of oversized sunglasses. The bigger, the better. Oversized sunglasses make you look put together no matter what’s going on underneath. Red eyes? Under-eye circles? Bare-face? Whatever the case may be - oversized sunglasses hide it all!

Trench Coat or Raincoats:

A trench coat has been the ultimate rainy day essential ever since Holly Golightly made it look so effortless and chic in Breakfast At Tiffany’s. Not only does a trench coat look fashionable it will also keep you dry and warm. Plus it’s super light and versatile. If trench coats aren’t your thing, opt for a raincoat instead. Long gone are the days of wearing hideous rain ponchos to dodge the showers. Nowadays there are plenty of fun and fashionable options for rain attire. And it just so happens that printed raincoats are all the rage right now.

Rain Boots:

Rain boots are symbolic of picturesque rainy days from your childhood. However, nowadays you don’t have to choose function over fashion. Now, almost every brand from Chanel to Hunter makes fashionable rain boots to keep your tootsies dry and looking good. These modern rain boots can be worn a myriad of ways. A bonus? They even look super cute with skirts and dresses which makes dressing for a rainy day that much easier.

Waterproof Mascara:

Having mascara streaming down your face is the last thing you want. I mean, let’s be real, even when it’s pouring rain we all want to look camera ready! That’s why it’s always good to keep a waterproof mascara on hand for rainy days.  Waterproof mascara will keep your eye makeup in place, and the best part is it allows you to be worry-free and no fuss.

Hats:

When all else fails on a rainy day, throw on a hat and call it a day. If your hair is a mess and your face isn’t exactly glowing, toss on a hat and hide away from the world. A hat is the perfect essential for rainy days; it can help shield the messiness that comes with soggy and wet weather.  While merely tossing on a baseball cap is suffice, a fedora or wide-brimmed hat are other, more fashionable, options. Plus if you opt for the more stylish choice, your look will seem more deliberate instead of an after-thought.

Umbrella:

An umbrella is the most basic, and most helpful, rainy day essential. However, no one ever said umbrellas have to be dull or dreary. Go for a clear umbrella to have some fun or if you’re into a more classic vibe grab a timeless black umbrella. And instead of hiding your umbrella, flaunt it, make it fun and stylish accessory to your rainy day attire.

Red Lipstick:

Red lipstick makes everything better plus it makes you look super chic and pulled together in the blink of an eye. No matter what’s going on with the weather red lipstick will boost your mood and make you look chic. Red Lipstick is the best little white lie - it tells the world your put together and on top of things even if you’re a hot mess. Shh, don't tell anyone!

Hair-tie and hairspray:

9 times out 10 your hair winds up looking like a tangled mess on rainy days. And nobody likes a bad hair day. The solution? Always keep a hair-tie and a mini-bottle of hairspray handy. Use a hair-tie to fix your hair disaster into a high ballerina style bun or a low chignon for a chic and simple look. Spray any flyaways with hairspray, and you’ll be asking yourself, what lousy hair day?

Water-Resistant Makeup Primer:

Smudged makeup is the worst! Rain and humidity can wreak havoc on your makeup. So, to keep your makeup intact grab a water-resistant makeup primer to keep your makeup looking flawless all day long. A primer will make sure your makeup doesn’t slide around, disappear, or melt right off your face. It’s an investment that’s worth every pretty penny.

Clear PVC Bag:

Functional fashion has never been more trendy. Clear PVC bags are all the rage and it just so happens that they make the best rainy day accessory. These bags are water-resistant, which means you don’t have to worry about your everyday items getting caught in the rain.  Plus, they are super fun and affordable!
